Bill De Herder is currently the assistant director of the Michigan Tech Multiliteracies Center. He has worked as a writing consultant at Central Michigan University and Ferris State University. He helped to expand FSU’s online program with his version of the UBERdoc. He further developed and re-formatted Jenelle’s “Online Comments” document and adapted it to the needs of FSU’s Online Writing Center. Originally, the online staff’s asynchronous consulting practices were limited to responses in the body of an email: Bill employed the UBERdoc for consultants to use in Word’s comment bubbles within the student’s paper. The student response to changes in the service was so positive, the FSU WC increased its annual number of online submissions by 51% (from 551 in 2013-2014 to 834 in 2014-2015). His UBERdoc has helped bring FSU’s writing center into a higher state of function.
